The GLOBALG.A.P. SUMMIT kicked off with a breakfast session dedicated to small-scale growers, producer groups and farmers in emerging countries.
The day continued with our famous roundtable sessions and an opportunity to discuss directly with our committee members, that means our Retail, Food Service, Supplier & Producer Members. At 4 parallel-running sessions every hour, our committee presented the first catalogue of changes to the control points and compliance criteria that make the GLOBALG.A.P. IFA Standard the most widely accepted farm assurance system in the world.
We rounded off the day with a special dinner invitation to all our members!
The first part of day 2 was dedicated to the role of good agricultural practices in supporting food security for future generations.
We introduced the Declaration of Abu Dhabi for Global Food Security through Good Agricultural Practices: The joint initiative launched by the Sustainable Agriculture Initiative (SAI) Platform, the International Trade Centre (ITC), and GLOBALG.A.P. Helping farmers grow farms for their grandchildren: How can G.A.P. support food security for future generations?
The day continued with parallel sessions on several pressing topics, with keynote speakers and expert panelists, discussing thought provoking ideas and debating controversial concepts.
The day ended with an exceptional cultural experience at the Conference Dinner.
The last day of SUMMIT 2014 began with a plenary discussion with the GLOBALG.A.P. Board and keynote speakers on the future direction and role of GLOBALG.A.P.
The day continued with various breakout sessions with experts from all relevant industry sectors, discussing the pressing issue facing the specific markets and industry today: Crops, Livestock, Aquaculture, localg.a.p., GRASP and Chain of Custody.
The day closed with a very inspiring keynote presentation by Prof. Franz Josef Radermacher on global industry trends, and an open discussion on the future of farm assurance systems in light of food security, climate change, and political and social unrest as well as opportunities through technological innovations.
